With a field of 45 fine billiard players, it was impossible to predict a winner, but frequent champion Erik Hjorliefson was the one to come through at the end.

This guy is from Winnipeg and I've had the pleasure of playing him many times. I've seen him develop from a kid with desire to a young man with a great game. He has had some great showings in the past, like beating all the top guns (Strickland,Pagulayan,Archer etc.) on the way to a 9th at the U.S. Open. If he ever decides to make pool his top priority, I believe he could be a real force. If the sport will ever become more financially rewarding, I believe we will see a lot more great talent coming up. Its to bad that so many have to decide between making a living and giving pool a real chance.
