Joint pins
Just wondering what would be the most common joint pin sizes? I've made some joint protectors for my cues which are 5/16-18. I have a set of purpleheart and one of maple. If I ever wanted to make some to sell, which would be the most common types?
I know of 3/8-10, 3/8-11, 5/16-14, 5/16-18, radial pins. Then of course some are piloted and some flat-faced, but if I made just 3 or 4 types, which should they be? |

I did not include 3/8-11 even though I have a cue with that pin, and have been trying to find a nice set of JP's for it. It seems to me not as mainstream as the others listed. Lets see some pics of your JP's! |

Thanks for your response. You are right, I could just make them all recessed to fit both. As far as pics go, I don't have a digital camera so one of these days I'll have to go buy one.
They are just plain as can be for now, but I figured before I go out and buy more taps I should figure out which are priority. I dont have the tools to do anything great, but its fun to try and learn new things. Someday I hope to get into building cues and stuff, but till I can do that I will play around with easier things like this in my spare time. Thanks again for your input. |
